Access Management and Fine-grained Permissions
As Willow scaled across customer portfolios, we heard a consistent theme that customers wanted better control over what their distinct user groups could see and do. Since Willow serves a number of different personas, workflows, and use cases across an organization, we agreed. This led to our ground-up development of the new Access Management solution.
Before: Willow offered only two roles - Admin and Viewer - with only two permissions - site viewer and ability to add/delete users. When given Viewer access, the user could see and do everything in Willow App for a site across twins, insights, tickets, time series, and dashboards.
Now: Willow's Access Management supports flexible role creation, 36 permissions (and growing), and the ability to individually control access to Willow App features per location!
The Access Management feature introduces a streamlined and secure way to control user access within the Willow App. This feature enables administrators to manage permissions based on roles, ensuring each user has access only to the resources and functions they need. Key highlights include:
- Role-Based Access Control: Permissions are assigned according to user roles, providing appropriate access levels across the platform.
- Group Management: Administrators can organize users into groups and assign roles collectively, making access management easier for teams.
- Location-Based Restrictions: Permissions can be restricted to specific locations, so users only have access to relevant resources.
With the rollout of this feature, the Admin section within Willow App now includes an option to open the Access Management application. Administrators will see an option under the Users tab, indicating that user administration has moved. By clicking Open Access Management, they can access the new app to add, edit, or remove users as needed.
This feature enhances security, simplifies user management, and provides a solid foundation for structured access control. The rollout is currently underway and will reach all customers over the coming weeks. More details here.
Copilot: Asset Contextualization
Copilot can now answer questions specific to the twin that the user is viewing in Willow App. For example, if a user is viewing AC-10-1, Copilot will now prioritize responding from documents related directly to an asset twin.
Dashboards: Comfort Dashboard Displays Insights
The comfort dashboard now displays active insights against the listed terminal units so users can best understand the linkage between their comfort score and the insights that may be affecting it. Willow has also updated the asset links to bring the user directly to the Asset History tab on the twin page to best support further investigation into contributing issues and associated actions.
