Overview
Insights in Willow have many types of impact scores which are calculated by Willow's Activate Technology using the knowledge graph, ontology, and incoming telemetry. These impact scores help determine how to prioritize what to review and action as work. They also help quantify the impact that resolving the insights will have on the facility and its occupants, and the savings that has been achieved as a result of successfully actioning work.
Impact scores are updated in real-time as skills are being evaluated to give the most accurate representation of the current state. Let's take a look at the types of impact scores in Willow.
"Avoidable" Impact
The impact that can be avoided by the facility and its occupants for the next year if the active insights are resolved today. There are three types of avoidable impacts in Willow:
- Avoidable Cost Per Year (i.e. USD)
- Avoidable Energy Per Year (i.e. kWh)
- Avoidable CO2 Emissions Per Year (i.e. mt CO₂e)
Avoidable Cost Per Year
The estimated yearly cost that could be avoided if the active insights are resolved. This is calculated as the sum of several cost components. Here are a few common cost components that many insights contain:
- Energy
- Productivity Loss
- Wear & Tear
- The energy cost impact is the avoidable energy impact (kWh) multiplied by the energy utility rate ($/kWh).
- The productivity loss impact is the cost of lost occupant productivity due to poor thermal comfort in spaces. This is estimated based on known or estimated zone occupant count and occupant hourly financial contribution.
- The wear & tear cost impact is the estimated accelerated replacement cost per year due to wear and tear. This is calculated from the proportion increase of equipment load or runtime multiplied by the estimated replacement cost.
Avoidable Energy Per Year
The estimated yearly energy usage that could be avoided if the active insights are resolved. This is calculated by determining the reduction in power from the current baseline multiplied by the duration of time the insight is active. Depending on the insight, the reduction in power could come from many different components in a system such as a reduced cooling or heating load and reduced fan, pump, or compressor power.
Avoidable CO2 Emissions Per Year
The estimated yearly CO2 emissions that could be avoided if the active insights are resolved. This is the avoidable energy impact (MWh) multiplied by the local marginal grid emissions rate (lbs CO₂e/MWh).
"To Date" Impact
The total accumulated impact incurred since the insights were first active. As an insight remains in the active state, the "To Date" impacts continue to accumulate until it changes to inactive. Each of the above defined avoidable impacts has an equivalent "To Date" impact which is calculated from the same components:
- Total Cost To Date (i.e. USD)
- Total Energy To Date (i.e. kWh)
- Total CO2 Emissions To Date (i.e. mt CO₂e)
Other Impacts
Priority
A score between 0-100 which indicates the severity or urgency by which an insight should be reviewed and resolved. Faults that can cause a severe disruption or emergencies will be Critical while opportunities that are less time sensitive but potentially still very impactful to overall energy and cost savings may be High.
Priority | Range |
---|---|
Low | 0 - 25 |
Medium | 26 - 50 |
High | 51 - 75 |
Critical | 76 - 100 |
Similar to the other impact scores, the priority impact is dynamic in that it can adjust as new telemetry is received and the issue becomes more severe or lasts for a longer duration. For example, two different insights that have the same avoidable cost may have different priority scores if one has had 1,000 hours of duration in its lifetime and the other 10 hours of duration.
Duration
The total accumulated time, in hours, that the insight has been active since it was first active.
Last 7 Days Duration
The total accumulated time over the last 7 days, in hours, that the insight has been active.
Week over Week Duration Delta
The percent difference in the Last 7 Days Duration (Today - 7 days ago) from the previous 7 Days Duration (8 - 14 days ago).
